An estimated 50 million tons of e-waste are produced each year. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that only 15-20% of e-waste is recycled, the rest of these electronics go directly into landfills and incinerators.
This DFA team has found that a big part of this problem is due to people’s perception of value of their product, security of their data and uncertainty of proper disposal, leaving them holding on to the products. Many patrons will leave old products in the drawer on simply sitting on the desk. Therefore this team be working on a solution that helps extend the life of a consumer product into a new purpose within the home.
