How can we reduce hospital acquired infections?
Two million people a year in the United States acquire infections during hospital stays unrelated to their original condition because of insufficient hygiene, leading to 100,000 deaths each year and $2-4 billion dollars in costs to the healthcare industry.
DFA students set out to find a way to make a portable hand hygiene device to make sanitation more convenient. They realized that wiping hands on one’s pants was an intuitive hand-cleaning motion and SwipeSense was born. DFA’s patent pending design will ensure that all hospital staff have the proper sanitation to provide the highest quality care. SwipeSense currently completed the Healthbox incubator and is in its first stage of funding with $750,000 secured of their $1million.
